RE: Tele-Town-Hall Tuesday, March 31 – Guidelines on Remote Learning
Dear MTA Member,
As we end the second week of school closures due to the Coronavirus crisis it is important we continue to stay connected with each other and as a membership.
Educators across the states have questions about how this crisis impacts their districts attempts to implement remote learning. This week, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) released long overdue guidelines on remote learning. Because of the power we have built local by local across the state, MTA was able to shape these guidelines to include some of our members’ most important principles. It is vital that our members gain a thorough understanding of how to interpret DESE’s guidelines so you can help your local negotiate MOAs about remote learning for the weeks ahead.
Each week since schools have been closed we have been connecting with you through tele-conferences to take your questions, give you the most updated info, and to stay connected. We will continue the conversation over tele-conference this Tuesday, March 31 at 5:00 p.m. and we will focus our call on remote learning. We will take a deep dive into DESE’s guidelines, what they mean for you, how you can ensure your locals have the most up-to-date information to best position yourself and your members in this time of increased remote learning. We will also take your questions and comments to generate a discussion as we are all experiencing this together.

In solidarity,
Merrie and Max
