After another virtual bargaining session earlier today, we are closing in on a tentative agreement which will ultimately define the expectations for remote learning during the current mandatory school closure. We have agreed to a conceptual framework that the Executive Committee believes will allow our members the flexibility necessary to balance their personal and professional obligations in a fair and equitable manner. We have planned to meet once more tomorrow to iron out the final details before we share the details with you all. I appreciate all of the feedback and thoughtful questions that I have received throughout this process. What we ultimately bring back to you will be the best reflection of the vision you have shared with me that we can accomplish.
Thank you again for all that you have done for your students and our community at large during these confusing and challenging times. You have proved that we are among the most essential of workers because it is we who care for and educate young people so that their families can fully participate in the economy and focus on their health and security. When this is all over and things return to normal, I am confident that educators be heralded among the healthcare workers and first responders for our role in getting our city, state, and nation through this crisis. After all, you have always been and will continue to be the HEArt of Haverhill.
