Sisters and Brothers,
At the bargaining session, the Association delivered to the School Committe its initial response to the Superintendent’s reopening plan. Due to the very limited time the bargaining team had to unpack the 50-page “proposal” that the Superintendent posted to the internet late Tuesday night, we could not respond directly to the district plan. There were, however, many questions and concerns raised by members that we presented to the District at the end of session. We were promised a response to those at our next session on Monday.
We did, however, define the baseline community metrics and air quality standards that we believe are absolutely necessary for any building to safely reopen to large numbers of staff and students in September.
Bargaining Team Co-Chairs Nancy Koorapaty (HHS) and Christine Hickey (Tilton Lower) presented our proposal, which included both an overview of the Haverhill Education Association’s Safety-Focused Approach for a Phased-In Reopening of Schools.
Our next bargaining date is Monday night at 6:00pm. Please email me by 9:00am Monday morning if you’d like to join the core bargaining team to observe the negotiation session, and plan to join our pre-bargaining caucus at 5:30.
