Support the hard-working Education Support Professionals schools rely on every day!
The Haverhill Contract Action Team is calling ALL TEACHERS to send email testimonials to the School Committee about ESPs we work with on a daily basis who make our jobs easier.
- Send 1 email, each day to schoolcommittee@haverhill-ps.org about a different ESP you work with from now until the next bargaining session on November 18th. Your message will be sent to each member of the School Committee and Mayor Fiorentini.
- State your belief that all Haverhill ESPs are essential school personnel who deserve to earn a LIVING WAGE.
- Identify the ESP you work with regularly and explain what it is he or she does that makes your job easier.
- Close with a demand for a fair contract and a LIVING WAGE for all ESPs.
Be specific! We want the School Committee members to know who these fine men and women are and why they are so important to making Haverhill students have the education they deserve! An example to inspire you follows this email!
Don’t delay! Support our ESPs today!

To the Haverhill School Committee,
I am writing today to express to you how utterly essential it is that I have an ESP like Deb Garvey to work with every day at the Consentino School. Even prior to the pandemic, I could always rely on her to help keep my students engaged and on task with assignments, allowing me to provide more direct, one-on-one instruction with students who were either in need of some extra help or enrichment. Even when we learn remotely, she is always sending students messages to check in with their progress, ask them to rejoin their classmates online, and to make sure they are doing their schoolwork. Without highly-qualified and talented paraprofessionals like to help us, Haverhill’s educators simply would not be able to meet the needs of the diverse group of students we are responsible for each year, and this year especially.
Please support our HEArt of Haverhill ESPs and give them a fair contract with a living wage.
Sincerely,
Anthony
