The December 8th meeting of the Board of Directors was called to order by 1st Vice President Barry Davis at 4:18 pm. In attendance were 1st Vice President Barry Davis, 2nd Vice President Liz Briggs, Treasurer Lauren Sanguedolce, Secretary Deb Russell, ESP Unit Representative Maureen Zuber and Clerical Representative Vicki Steed. The following buildings were represented by their Building Representatives: Bradford, Consentino,Haverhill High,Hunking,Moody, Pentucket Lake,Silver Hill, Tilton,Whittier and Walnut Square.

The December 8th meeting of the Board of Directors was called to order by 1st Vice President Barry Davis at 4:18 pm. In attendance were 1st Vice President Barry Davis, 2nd Vice President Liz Briggs, Treasurer Lauren Sanguedolce, Secretary Deb Russell, ESP Unit Representative Maureen Zuber and Clerical Representative Vicki Steed.

Acceptance of Agenda for the December 8, 2022 Board of Directors meeting:
Change was made without objection to Ist Vice President items, there were no objections.
Acceptance of the minutes for the November 12, 2022 meeting. Motion was made to accept the minutes by Maureen Zuber and seconded by Nicole Sanchez. Motion passes.
- Kathy Greene, ESP Tech at Walnut: Questions regarding the 4 Strike days that ESPs worked.
- Has there been a MOU concerning the 4 days.
- Is Central Office and SC deciding on what is happening with the 4 days and why is the ESP rep not working with them and what is the timeline in their decision?
- Answer-
- ESPS are expected to support students for the full academic school year which is 180 instructional days
- The district has told the HEA that ESPs will be getting an “extra” 4 days of pay at the end of the year.
- ESP Report
- ESP of the Year- We are so thankful and grateful to have the opportunity to work with such amazing ESPs. Our ESP of the Year is Tyler Gibbs
- Negotiation Team- putting out an invite to join the bargaining team
III.Clerical Unit Representative Report
- MOA for clerk “11” is going in front of the school committee and the following paycheck they will receive their retro pay.
- Principal Clerk for transportation- discrepancy in the job description. Human Resources will look into it.
- Membership Chair Report
- Membership Committee-meeting next Monday or Tuesday
- Reconciling membership with MTA list.
- Continue to sign up New members
V Treasurer’s Report
- Secretary’s Report-
- Nothing to report at this time.
VII 2nd Vice President’s Report
- Newsletter- if you need a hard copy let Liz know. The newsletter was sent out through iContact.
- New Apparel – sending out a form for other apparel beside the T-shirts and once we get a minimum of 12 we will put the order in.
- Food Drive- February 1st to the 14th.
- Scholarship Committee- you should be hearing from Liz. Discussing the language and the Honors Banquet.
VIII. 1st Vice President
- Grievance-
- A Member received a letter about tardiness and absences. They have since resigned their position.
- Member-on the wrong pay scale. Transcripts were dropped off in person, so there’s no record of the transcript. We did find a letter from the former Superintendent.
- ESPs and LTS getting $30 stipend for planning. Human Resources are saying it is a mistake but it is past practice. They should be getting $30 for planning. Please check with anyone in your building to make sure they are getting the $30 for planning.
- President’s Report-given by 1st Vice President Barry Davis
- Old Business
- The Security Specialist-School Committee is voting on it tonight.
- New Business
- The Copier is still not set up. Tim is working on getting it fixed.
- BARR- sent a cease and desist letter. Only freshman teachers are participating and being asked to do this. Lots of inequities. If nothing gets done with the cease and desist letter then it goes into a ULP.
- Safety Committee Update- reported out by Suzette DiTonno
- Discussion of inconsistencies as to how behavior is “tracked” and consequences that are given. (if they are given)
- District recognizes that there are some issues
- Communication is a great place to start. How it can be done across the building.
- Creating an organizational chart to let people know about the various positions and what they do.
- Teacher Contract- page 31 article 18 Teacher Protection- teachers shall be required to report any incident/assault and send to the Superintendent and shall acknowledge receipt of report. The School Committee will then be notified by the Superintendent.
- Strike fines- still in court and ongoing.
- Problems and Concerns
- PLS. – Staff Safety- HEA needs to collect data with no specific details with names.
- ETFs- they have been telling teachers that they have to complete the IEP in 2 days. The law requires 10 days.
- ELA curriculum- where is it? Administrator is say that the curriculum is the reading mini lesson book.
- Committees- have meetings been scheduled for various committees.
Motion to adjourn was made and passed. Meeting was adjourned at 5:40pm.
